EARLIER TODAY: CFO, PCG Hong Kong Explore Potential YouLeaD Program Implementation

Officers from the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) met with representatives of the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong (PCG Hong Kong) to discuss the potential implementation of the Youth Leaders in the Diaspora (YouLeaD) program.



During the meeting, Project Management Division Chief Ms. Marie del Rosario-Apattad presented the YouLeaD program, outlining its objectives and highlighting how its cultural immersion component can help overseas Filipino youth connect with, understand, and develop a deeper appreciation of their Filipino heritage. She also discussed the range of activities that potential participants may experience under the program.

Vice Consul Allan G. Revote, Head of the Consulate’s Cultural Division, expressed enthusiasm for the proposed collaboration. Representatives from PCG Hong Kong shared that there is a significant number of young Filipino-Hong Kongers who are eager to learn more about their Filipino roots. Many of these youth face challenges in fully connecting with the Filipino community in Hong Kong and in being fully embraced by the local society, further underscoring the importance of initiatives such as YouLeaD.

Following the discussion, PCG Hong Kong representatives committed to consulting relevant stakeholders through a survey and to coordinating with Filipino youth leaders in Hong Kong, including leaders of Filipino Student Associations, to explore the feasibility of implementing the program.

Also present for the meeting are Ms. Patricia Salvador and Ms. Marie Linda Santos from PMD, as well as other PCG Hong Kong representatives, Ms. Donna May Siongco and Ms. Monica Gianan.

This collaboration between the Commission on Filipinos Overseas and the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong is establishing the foundation for a potential YouLeaD program aimed for college-age Filipino youth in Hong Kong. The program will help them reconnect with their heritage through cultural immersion, education, and community engagement.
